Watershed Restoration Program

Reduce, Minimize, or Eliminate…

The USDA Strategic Plan for FY 2010-2015 targets the restoration of watersheds and forest health as a core management objective of the National Forests and Grasslands. To achieve this goal, the Forest Service is directed to restore degraded watersheds by strategically focusing investments in watershed improvement projects and conservation practices at the landscape and watershed scales.

The U.S. Forest Service’s Watershed Condition Framework: Guiding On-the-Ground Restoration in the West

Presenter: Anne Zimmermann, Director of Watersheds, Fish, Wildlife, Air & Rare Plants, U.S. Forest Service

View this webinar for an interactive discussion of how the Watershed Condition Framework can help shape headwaters protection across the West by:

  1. Guiding restoration activities across the 18,000 watersheds of the National Forest System,
  2. Providing opportunities for the public to help identify priority watersheds and contribute to the planning and implementation of watershed restoration actions, and
  3. Monitoring and document the success of restoration activities for the benefit of decision makers and the public.
