Question

What is a Letter of Commitment?

Answer

A letter of commitment articulates the intention of all participating federal, non-federal, and/or tribal cooperators directly involved in the development and/or implementation of the proposal. Only entities that will be substantively involved in the project are requested to ‘sign’ the letter of commitment. ‘Signing’ the letter can include an electronic signature or simply listing the name, title, and affiliation of the signatory. The Letter of Commitment should articulate that those signing the letter support the project, were involved in the development of the proposal and/or are committed to partnering in the implementation of the project. We will not accept general letters of support in FY 2011. Specific roles of each collaborating organization should be listed in “Attachment C” along with the contact information for each group.
