Flowers in the Aspen Groves

Sierra-Nevada, California

Aspen groves in the Sierra Nevada have been studied to figure out what wildflowers are only to be found in aspen groves. The current study is being completed through the University of California at Davis (UC Davis).

Forty-nine wildflowers have been identified that are only found in aspen groves in the Sierra Nevada. Some of the more showy flowering species are presented here. Through the UC Davis study, aspen groves have been found to have a greater diversity of plants than the surrounding conifer forest or nearby meadows.
