Angel of Shavano Campground

The Angel of Shavano Campground is ideally suited for tent camping. The campsites are wooded with aspen and spruce trees along the north fork of the south Arkansas River. 

The Angel of Shavano Trailhead for the Colorado Trail #1776 is across the road from the campground.

Dispersed camping spots may be found along 4x4 road FS 240) between Angel of Shavano and North Fork campgrounds.

Quiet hours: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Maximum 8 persons per site.
  • Tents and vehicles must be in designated spots.
  • Dogs must be leashed.
  • Stay limit of 14 consecutive days.

$25 per site for overnight camping. Two vehicles or one RV per site is included in the camping fee. $10 for a third vehicle.   $10 fee for day use if not camping overnight.   Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available.   Sites must be occupied the first night of payment.   Interagency Senior/Access passes valid for 50% discount to the camping fee for one site.

Directions

From the junction of Highways 50/285 in Poncha Springs, travel west on Highway 50 for six miles. As you approach the town of Maysville, watch for County Road 240 on the right. Turn onto CR 240 and travel for three miles to the campground. The group campground is located on the left side of the road. Continue past the group area to the main entrance for Angel of Shavano campground.
