Reporting a fire

To report a fire in the Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands, call the Pueblo Interagency Dispatch Center at 719-553-1600 or dial 911.

Consider these questions to provide helpful information when reporting a fire:

  • Where is the fire?
  • What is the estimated fire size?
  • What is the distance and direction from the nearest landmark (town, trailhead, mountain peak)?
  • What time was the smoke spotted?
  • How would you describe the smoke (light, dark, heavy, wispy)?
  • What is burning (grass, brush, timber)?
  • What is your name and contact number?
  • Is anyone else at the scene?

During an active wildfire, the public information officer (PIO) can be contacted for media inquiries at 719-299-5688 or by email.
