Redbird Crest Trail
The Redbird Crest Trail is the heart of the Redbird Crest Trail System. The 69-mile loop provides year-round adventure for off-highway vehicle (OHV) riders, hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers. Though the trail generally follows ridgetops through rugged portions of the Redbird Ranger District, there are opportunities to explore for every skill level and interest. The northeastern sections of the trail lead users through the minimally developed Redbird Wildlife Management Area while a small southwestern section runs along a county road.
Trail connections with Gilbert Creek/Elisha Creek Loop, Daniel Boone Trail Connector and Left Fork of Elisha Creek trails make it easy to extend your adventure.

General Information
- The trail is marked with orange diamond blazes. Trail symbols and signs are used at road intersections.
- Steep terrain in some areas may be challenging for beginners on off-highway vehicles. Inexperienced riders should always be accompanied on the trail.
- Cross-country motorized vehicle travel, including hill climbs, is not permitted. Motorized vehicles must stay on the trails (or roads) designated for their specific use.
- Motorized vehicle restrictions may change as you travel to new sections of the Redbird Crest Trail network. Confirm that your vehicle meets all restrictions for your planned route in advance.

Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Use: $15/day; $60 annual.
Payment options include:
- Daniel Boone National Forest OHV recreation pass (sticker or wristband). Passes may be purchased in advance from Forest offices or local vendors.
- Onsite payment via the Recreation.gov Mobile App. Once purchased, keep your confirmation number with you on the trail. Onsite cell phone coverage is poor; please download the app prior to arrival.
Proof of payment must either be displayed on the OHV (sticker) or carried by the OHV rider (wristband or confirmation number) while using the trail.
Motorized vehicle restrictions may change as you travel to new sections of the Redbird Crest Trail network. Use the Redbird Crest Trail Map and Guide to confirm that your vehicle meets all restrictions for your planned route in advance.
Sections 1-6: Open to motorized vehicles 64 inches or less in width with engine size up to 1,000 cc and low pressure off-road tires. All other vehicles are prohibited.
Sections 7-13: Open to motorized vehicles 50 inches or less in width. All other vehicles are prohibited.
Sections 14-15: Open to licensed, street-legal vehicles. All other vehicles are prohibited.
Sections 16-22: Open to single-track vehicles such as dirt bikes. All other vehicles are prohibited.

Trailhead/Starting Points
The Redbird Crest Trail forms a nearly 100-mile loop with some portions crossing or aligning with roads. Most users access the trail via one of the three developed trailheads: Sugar Creek Trailhead, Peabody Trailhead or Bear Creek Trailhead.
