Wildlife on SRS

Welcome to Savannah River Site Forest

From farmland to one of the most successful forest restoration projects in the United States, Savannah River Site Forest stands as a living example of how forests, wildlife, and science can thrive together. By restoring habitats and protecting native plants and animals, we help maintain the natural balance that makes this landscape so unique.

Through sustainable harvesting of forest products, we help strengthen the regional economy while protecting the watersheds that provide a clean and reliable source of water. Savannah River Site is a National Environmental Research Park and serves as a 310‑square‑mile living laboratory where scientists study ecosystems, track changes over time, and test new ideas for conservation.

Savannah River Site Forest plays a special role in supporting the national mission of the Savannah River Site. By maintaining strong, healthy landscapes around critical facilities, we help protect both the environment and the nation today and for future generations.
