Apishapa Trail #1324

Apishipa Trail #1324 is 3.4 miles long and located in the Spanish Peaks Wilderness. This trail is moderate for hiking due to the elevation. Access is from either the West Peak Trail #1390 or from further east on County Road 46.

The Spanish Peaks Wilderness was established in 2000 to preserve its quality, character and integrity. This area is intended to be a place where the imprint of humans is substantially unnoticed, where natural processes are the primary influences and where human activity is limited to primitive recreation and minimum tools. General Information

A day-use fee is charged during summer months at the West Peak Trailhead access to Apishipa Trail. No fee is charged at the trailhead on County Road 46. Trail length is 3.4 miles.

Directions

Take State Highway 12 from LaVeta to Cucharas Pass (about 16 miles), turn left on County Road 46 and travel 10 miles to the Apishapa Trailhead located adjacent to County Road 46. This trail will tie into the Wahatoya Trail #1304 at mile 1 1/2 or continue on for 2 miles to tie in with the West Peak Trail #1390. This trail is good for a car shuttle because both trailheads are accessed from the same County Road 46.
