Climbing and Caving
Mountain climbing is a favorite activity on the Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands, especially climbing the 19 majestic mountain peaks over 14,000 feet (fourteeners) along the Continental Divide. Rock climbing is also a popular activity at several locations in mountain districts.
Afternoon thunderstorms are common in the mountains, so be sure to take necessary precautions. Let someone know where you're going and when you are expected to return.
