Laurel Mill Cross-Country Ski and Hiking Trail


Area Status: Open

The Laurel Mill Trail is a system of interconnecting loops totalling 10.7 miles for cross-country skiing and hiking. The trailhead offers parking, restroom, and a warming hut that are accessible for persons with disabilities.

If you are looking for solitude, try the loops on the southern side of the system.

The trail is groomed by volunteers.

"You Are Here" signs are located at trail junctions and other key locations.

  • Travel on Main St. to Halton-Spring Creek Road/T307
  • Travel on Halton-Spring Creek Road/T307 for 4 miles.
  • The tralhead is located on the right.

Day Hiking

The trails are marked with blue diamonds and challenges a wide range of skill levels.

  • Elk and Perseverance Loops are designated EASIEST
  • Scout Loop, Hemlock Loop and One Mile Loop are designated MORE DIFFICULT.
    • The Hemlock Loop offers some scenic views of the Ridgeway Reservoir as you go up Spillway Hill.
    • The Scout Loop adds some excitement as you twist down Suicide Slide and Brigg's Dike.
    • Enjoy Sam’s Slide on the One Mile Loop.
    • Ski cautiously over Lewis Run Bridge.
  • Sparrow Nest Loop is best suited for hiking.
Fire Information Campfires are permitted if maintained in a fire ring, and completely extinguished.
