Dewdrop Campground

Dewdrop Campground is located along Longhouse National Scenic Byway. This 11-acre campground is nestled on the shoreline of Kinzua Bay, which extends southwest from the main body of the Allegheny Reservoir.  Several campsites offer views of the water.

General Information

Camping

Dewdrop has 74 family campsites, each containing a picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. There are no water or sewer hookups for RVs.

Interagency Senior/Access Recreation Passes provide a 50% discount to Single Campsites only.

The discount applies only to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass holder, not to any additional fee or campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass holder's party.

As a visitor to the National Forest, you are asked to follow certain rules designed to protect the Forest, natural resources and to provide for public safety of visitors. These rules are available to you online or at any office of the Allegheny National Forest. Please take time to read and understand them. General Topic orders apply across the Forest.

Fire Information: Campfires are permitted as long as fires are maintained in a fire ring and fully extinguished when leaving. Dead and down wood may be used for firewood.

Overnight Use:
Single Site: $20 per night
Premium Site: $24 per night

Boating

When boating with your dog, follow all Pennsylvania State boating laws.

  • Use care when getting your dog in and out of the boat to ensure their safety.
  • Consider both you and your dog wearing a life jacket.
  • Provide shade for your pet.
  • Remember to bring their food and water as it may be unsafe for them to drink lake water.

Camping

  • Keep dogs on a six-foot, or shorter, leash when they are not inside a tent.
  • Store dog food in bear-resistant containers and feed your pet away from the campsite.
  • Pick up and bag your dog’s waste. Place it in a provided trash receptacle or pack it out.
  • Do not leave your dog unattended at any time.
  • Keep your dog in your tent at night.
  • Ensure that there is ample water available for your pet.

Trail Use

Dogs are allowed on hiking trails, as long as they are kept on a leash. Unleashed dogs can pose a danger to your pet, the natural resources of the area, and other forest visitors.

From downtown Warren

  • Travel south on Route 6/Crescent Park Drive for 2 miles.
  • Turn left/east onto Route 59.
  • Travel east on Route 59 for 9.8 miles.
  • Turn right onto Longhouse National Scenic Byway
  • Travel on Longhouse National Scenic Byway for 2.8 miles.
  • Turn left onto Forest Road 203 to enter the site.

Dewdrop is located on Longhouse National Scenic Byway. 

A variety of planned routes are available for scenic driving ranging in difficulty from all paved roads to self-planned routes utilizing Forest Service system roads. Stop at any Forest Service office to purchase a map.

Boating - Motorized Info

One-lane concrete flank boat launch, open to campground users only, provides access point for motorized boating on 29 mile long, Allegheny Reservoir (Kinzua Dam). This launch is not suitable for large watercraft.

  • 12,080 surface acres at summer pool
  • average width is 3/8 of a mile
  • length is about 29 miles

  • 8 boat launches (including the marina).

Viewing Wildlife Info

Over 70 species of game and non-game fish live in the Allegheny National Forest. Over 300 species of mammals, including raccoon, gray squirrel, snowshoe hare, red and gray fox, beaver, mink, and muskrat as well as game species such as white-tailed deer, black bear and wild turkey.

When you see wildlife, please remember:

  • never feed wildlife
  • don't interfere with mating, predation or other natural behaviors.
  • keep a respectful distance
  • preserve habitat by following "leave no trace" principles.
  • leave young wildlife where you find them.
