Interpretive Areas/Exhibits

Interpretive areas are available at several sites throughout the Forest.

Viewing Plants

In the foothills, manzanitas and California lilac frost the hills with white and blue, while lupines and buttercups create tapestries of blue and gold.  A little higher in elevation, redbuds and dogwood trees are roadside showstoppers in late spring. In the higher meadows and glades, a variety of daisies and penstemons create an everchanging summer parade, and set the stage for an autumn show of elderberries, acorns, golden maples, and scarlet dogwoods.

Viewing Scenery

Viewing and experiencing nature is the number one reason people visit the Mendocino National Forest. Native animals abound and the diversity of plant species is unparalleled while the views and overlooks are breathtaking. Spend some time anywhere in the forest and enjoy!
