The Alaska Resource Advisory Committees (RAC) are four groups of 9-15 volunteers who make recommendations to the Chugach and Tongass National Forests regarding the allocation of funds, fee proposals, and greater project work across the forests associated with Title II funds from the Secure Rural Schools Act. Committees follow FACA guidelines, striving for representation from tribal and government organizations, businesses, environmental groups, recreation groups, and local citizens. The committees improve collaborative relationships among community members and land managers who use and care for the National Forests. All USDA RACs are structured with a charter and charter addendum, managed by the national office.
