Admiralty Island National Monument

Admiralty Island is one of the larger islands in the southeastern panhandle of Alaska, known to the Tlingit as "Kootznoowoo," meaning "Fortress of the Bear." With its diverse ecosystems and access to temperate rain forests and waterways, it is a destination for kayaking, fishing, tide-pooling, bear-watching, and other recreation opportunities.
