Access to the southern end of Sand Lake Recreation Area OHV area.

General Information

State of Oregon OHV permit required for riding. 

A valid Recreation Pass is required for day use parking AND/or sand camping for each day (not night) you are camping on the sand. Recreation Passes that will cover the fee include: 

  • Daily Digital passes purchased online from Recreation.gov (Get it before you go!)
  • Annual Northwest Forest Passes
  • Interagency passes, such as Senior and Military passes

OHV Rules and Regulations

  • Alcohol ban in OHV riding areas
  • OHV riding curfew between midnight and 6:00 a.m.
  • Campers in dispersed areas must have and use a portable toilet. 

Valid day use pass ($5) or valid recreation pass required. Day passes can be purchased with a debit or credit card at the West Winds Fee Kiosk located at West Winds Day Use Area, purchased online at recreation.gov, or by scanning the QR code at the information kiosk using the free recreation.gov app. No cash accepted.

Within developed recreation sites, dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, or otherwise under physical restrictive control. 36 CFR 261.16(j)

Getting There

Directions

Located 10 miles north of Pacific City on County 871 (Sandlake Road). Travel 4 miles to stop sign and turn left on County Road 871 (Sandlake Road). Take County Road 871 1 mile to Galloway Road.  

From Tillamook, south on Highway 101 for 11 miles.  Take County Road 871 ( Sandlake Road) for 4 miles to stop sign and turn left on County Road 871 (Sandlake Road).  Take County Road 871 (Sandlake Road) 1 mile to Galloway Road.
