Snow Lakes Trailhead

This busy trailhead provides access to Snow Lakes Trail #1553 within the Enchantments of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. This is one of the primary entrances into the Enchantments for destinations such as Snow Creek Wall, Snow Lakes, Nada Lake, The Temple, and more. However, due to its popularity, overnight use requires a permit May 15 – October 31.

Dogs are prohibited on all trails in the Enchantment Permit Area including the Snow Lakes Trail. 

Parking is limited; visitors may have to park miles away from the trailhead. Plan accordingly.

Restrictions

  • No motorized vehicles, no bicycles, no aircrafts
  • No drones
  • No groups larger than 8 people
  • No dogs on Snow Lakes Trail / within Enchantment Permit Area
  • No campfires
  • Only stay in designated hiker campsites at Nada or Snow Lake

Day Use:
$5 per vehicle per day
$30 per annual

Dogs and pets are prohibited within the Enchantment Permit Area. Dogs whose sole purpose is to provide therapy, comfort, emotional support or crime deterrent do not qualify as service dogs and are not allowed.

Directions

From Leavenworth, turn onto Icicle Road. Follow Icicle Road/Forest Road 7600 for 4.3 miles to the trailhead. Trailhead is on the left. 

Parking

For vehicles parking on road or in parking area – a NW Forest Pass, America the Beautiful Pass or the Overnight Visitor Parking Pass that comes with Enchantments overnight permit must be on display on your vehicle’s dashboard. Day Passes can be purchased at trailhead, and pass must be displayed on dashboard of vehicle, even if parking on the road.

Leave designated overnight parking for permit holders.

Consider carpooling, riding a bike or have someone shuttle you to the trailheads to further reduce impacts and overcrowding.
