  • Labor Mountain Fire Closure Updated on Sept. 30, 2025 impacting Wenatchee River & Cle Elum Districts

    This closure is enacted to reduce the potential for members of the public to be endangered or harmed by the hazards associated with active wildfire and recently burned forest, as well as to reduce the potential for members of the public to interfere with or impede suppression and rehabilitation activity.

Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Wenatchee River and Cle Elum Ranger Districts of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This Order supersedes Forest Order #06-17-03-25-35 signed by Tara Umphries on September 24th , 2025, and is effective September 30, 2025 through December 31, 2025 unless rescinded sooner.

PROHIBITIONS:
1.Entering into or being upon National Forest System lands, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.53(e)].
2.Being on a National Forest System trail, as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.55(a)].
3.Being on a National Forest System Road as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.54(e)].
4.Use of vehicle off of National Forest System Roads as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibit A [36 CFR § 261.56].

CLOSURE AREA DESCRIPTION:
The Labor Mountain Fire Closure area is described as:
Closure applies to Forest Service lands, roads and trails within area closure.

The boundary of the closure starts in Section 8, T. 21 N. R. 16 E. W.M. at the juction of FSR 9737 and FSR 9738. It follows the west edge of FSR 9737 to its intersection with FSR 9701. It follows the west edge of FSR 9701 to the end of the road in Section 2, T. 21 N. R 15 E W.M. It then follows the west edge of Way Creek Trail # 1235 north to its intersection with the Koppen Mountain Trail # 1225. It follows the west edge of trail #1225 to where it intersects DeRoux Spur Trail #1392.1. It follows the north edge of trail #1392.1to its intersection with Boulder-De Roux Trail #1392. It follows the north edge of trail #1392 to its intersection with the North Fork Teanaway Trail #1358. It follows the west edge of trail #1358 to its intersection with the Esmeralda Basin Trail #1394. It follows the west edge of trail #1394 to its intersection with Ingall’s Way Trail #1390. It follows the west edge of trail #1390 to the Kittitas-Chelan County line in Section 26, T 23 N. R. 15 E. W.M. and the Wenatchee River and Cle Elum Ranger Districts’ boundary. Closure then follows the Alpine Lakes Wilderness boundary W then N to Ingalls Peak in Section 23, T. 23 N. R. 15 E. W.M. Closure then follow ridgeline to Stuart Pass and the junction with the Ingalls Creek Trail #1215 in Section 14, T. 23 N. R. 15 E. W.M. Closure then follows trail #1215 E to Ingalls Creek Trailhead in Section 26, T. 23 N. R. 17 E. W.M. Closure then follows Ingalls Creek Road to junction with Washington State Highway 97 in Section 24, T. 23 N. R. 17 E. W.M. Closure then follows Highway 97 north to the intersection with Camas Creek Rd. in Section 18, T. 23 N. R. 18 E. W.M. Then along the southern edge of Camas Creek to the Forest Service boundary in Section 20, T. 23N. R. 18 E. W.M. It then follows the Forest Service boundary east and then south until it intersects with FSR 9712 in Section 13, T. 21 N. R. 19 E. W. M. The closure then follows east along the FSR 9712 Liberty Beehive Rd. to the intersection with FSR 9716 Swauk Meadow Rd. in Section 17, T. 21 N. R. 18 E. W.M. The closure follows FSR 9716 north to the intersection with Washington State Highway 97 in Section 4, T. 21 N. R 18 E. W.M. The closure continues along north side of Washington State Highway 97 until the junction of FSR 9738, Blue Creek Road, in Section 22, T. 21 N. R. 17. E. W.M. It then follows the south edge of FSR 9738 northwest to the intersection of FSR 9702, Red Top Road, in Section 17, T. 21 N. R. 17 E. W.M. It follows the south edge of FSR 9702 to the Red Top trail head and intersection with Middle Creek in Section 19, T. 21 N. R. 17 E. W.M. It then follows Middle Creek west to the Forest service boundary in Section 24, T. 21 N. R. 16 E W.M. The closure then follows the Forest Service boundary north to the intersection with FSR 9738 in Section 36, T. 21 N. R. 16 E. W.M. and then back to the point of origin at the junction of FSR 9737 and 9738 in Section 8, T. 21 N. R. 16 E. W.M.

EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
1.Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

2.Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an individual or $10,000.00 for a corporation, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. (16 USC § 551; 18 USC §§ 3551, 3571, and 3581.)
