Trailhead: Packwood Lake

A very popular site providing access to Packwood Lake Trail #78, which is open to hiker and horse use only. The trailhead also accesses the Pipeline Road Trail #74, which is open to ATVs, motorcycles, hikers, horses, and bicycles.

Recreation Passes honored: Northwest Forest Pass and Interagency Recreation Passes.

Note: Washington State Discover Pass or Mt. Rainier Annual Pass are NOT accepted at Forest Service sites.

Wilderness regulations apply within the Goat Rocks Wilderness.

Day Use:
$5 per vehicle per day
$30 per annual

Fee Payment Options: Cash, Check, Scan & Pay or display a valid annual or day Recreation Pass in, or on, your vehicle. 

*Suggestion: Download the recreation.gov app before your trip to have the ability to scan & pay digitally on-site.

*If you will staying overnight in Goat Rocks Wilderness, remember to account for each day in your fee payment.

Directions

From Packwood, WA travel US-12 for .3 miles east and take a right on Snyder Road. travel for 1.2 miles and continue onto Forest Road 1260 for another 4.5 miles to the trailhead.

Despite what your navigation device may tell you, Forest Roads 46, 4610, 4612, or 1266 DO NOT provide desirable access to Packwood Lake or any trail leading to the lake. Access Packwood Lake via Forest Road 1260 and the Packwood Lake Trail #78 or Pipeline Trail #74.

Parking

Horse/Pack Animal Vehicles and Trailers should park in the lower lot. The lower lot is also open for OHV trailer parking. 

Vehicles found blocking the gate are subject to fines and/or towing at owner's expense.
