Packwood Community Wildfire Resilience Public Meeting
Come join the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District and Partners to learn about wildfire preparedness efforts at home and on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
When: June 10th, from 5:00PM - 6:30PM
Where: Packwood Community Hall (Address: 12935 US-12, Packwood, WA 98361).
As fire season approaches, lets take this opportunity to learn how best to protect your home and community in the event of a wildfire emergency. In addition to fire safety, Gifford Pinchot staff will give an overview of ongoing wildfire risk mitigation and fuels reduction projects on the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District.
The meeting will feature presentations and/or tabling from:
- Cowlitz Valley Ranger District (U.S. Forest Service).
- Washington Department of Natural Resources
- Lewis County Department of Emergency Management
- Pinchot Partners Forest Collaborative
National Trails Day Events! (June 6th)
- Coldwater Lake Trail Work Party
- Where: Coldwater Lake Boat Launch
- When: June 6th from 9am-3pm
- Join the Northwest Trail Alliance on the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument for a day of trail work. For additional information see: Coldwater Lake Trail Work Party event page.
- Blue Lake Trail Improvement
- Where: Blue Lake Trail, (Meet at the Mount St. Helens National Monument Headquarters Parking lot).
- When: June 6th from 8:30am – 4pm.
- Help the U.S. Forest Service with some routine trail maintenance. Directions/maps will be provided prior. For more information see: National Trails Day Events.
- National Trails Day at Wind River Arboretum -Work Party:
- Where: Wind River, Stabler, WA 98610.
- When: June 6th from 9am – 1 pm.
- Join the Washington Trails Association and other Trail Maintenance organizations to give back on National Trails Day. The work party will primarily focus on using digging tools to create a smooth (and wider) walking surface. For more information see: National Trails Day @ Wind River Arboretum.
- National Trails Day - Trout Creek Rd 43 Log Out #4
- Where: Trout Creek Trailhead.
- When: June 6th.
- Join the Pacific Crest Trail Association in celebrating National Trails Day with this crosscut log out beginning at Trout Creek TH, working south. For more information see: National Trails Day - Trout Creek Rd 43 Log Out #4
- Trans-Cascadia /NMA 2026 Work Party 1:
- Where: NF-23, Randle, WA 98377.
- When: June 11- June 14.
- Trans-Cascadia and the Northwest Motorcycle Association (NMA) are cohosting the first two work parties of 2026 consisting of multi-day campouts focused on improving multiple use singletrack trails through comprehensive maintenance for the enjoyment of all. Skate Creek Road 52 Litter/Trash Cleanup Event - 7th Annual!
Come join the Gifford Pinchot Trash Force team as they collect litter on Skate Creek Road (Forest Road 52) in preparation for the upcoming summer season.
When: Thursday April 16, 2026
Where: Packwood Gate on Skate Creek Road 52 (travel north on FR-52 from Packwood, WA)
The Forest Service waives recreation fees at most day-use sites on lands managed by the agency. Participation by concession-operated sites may vary.
