Beckwourth Ranger District

The Beckwourth Ranger District spans eastern Plumas County, southern Lassen County and northern Sierra County.  The Ranger District includes rangeland, high desert and mixed conifer forests.  With three popular recreation areas - Lake Davis, Frenchman Lake and the Lakes Basin - many visitors come to the Ranger District from Nevada and California.

There is a wide range of recreation opportunities, including camping, fishing, boating, OHV riding, mountain biking and horseback riding.  Beckwourth Ranger District also features the popular Black Mountain Fire Lookout and Crocker Guard Station, both available for recreation rental at Recreation.gov.

Firewood collection and Christmas tree cutting are popular on the Ranger District and can be a part of recreating in the area.
