Forest Development Trails

PROHIBITIONS:

Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b) the following acts are prohibited within the area and on the trails described in this Order, all within the Grey's River Ranger District, Bridger-Teton National Forest.

  1. Using any motor vehicle on a trail. 36 CFR 261.55(b).

     

  2. Possessing or using an over-snow vehicle off of National Forest System Roads. 36 CFR 261.56.

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e) the following persons are exempt from this Order:

  1. Persons with a permit specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.

     

  2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

     

  3. Highway 89 is excluded from this Order.

AREA DESCRIBED:

National Forest System Land, trails and ski trails within an area included in the Fish Creek and Water Canyon drainages, which include portions of Sections 6, 7, 8, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21; Township 29 North, Range 118 West; and Sections 12, 13, and 24; Township 29 North, 119 West; Sixth Principal Meridian. Depicted on the Map attached here to as Exhibit A.

The above-described area is within the proclaimed and administrative boundaries of the Greys River Ranger District, Bridger-Teton National Forest, Lincoln County Wyoming.

DEFINITION:

Over-Snow Vehicle. A motor vehicle that is designed for use over snow and that runs on a track or tracks and/or a ski or skis, while in use over snow. 36CFR§212.1

PURPOSE:

To separate motorized and non-motorized recreation uses to minimize user conflicts, provide safety and to prevent damage to the groomed cross-country ski trails.

IMPLEMENTATION:

  1. This Order will be in effect when signed and shall remain in effect until April 30, 2029 or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.

     

  2. Any violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for individuals, and $10,000.00 for organizations and/or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months. [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3571(b)(6), Title 18 USC 3581 (b)(7)].

     

  3. Order supersedes any previous orders prohibiting the same acts covered by this Order.
