Occupancy and Use - Camping
PROHIBITIONS
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a), the following are prohibited on National Forest System (NFS) lands, in the Jackson, Blackrock, Big Piney, and Greys River Ranger Districts, Bridger-Teton National Forest, described below and shown on the attached maps incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A, B, C, D (the “Described Areas”):
Camping in Described Area A for more than five days within a 30-day period from May 1st to Labor Day, except in a developed campground or within the Gros Ventre Wilderness. 36 C.F.R. § 261.58(a)
Camping in Described Area B from May 1st to Labor Day. 36 CFR § 261.58(e)
Camping in Described Area C. 36 CFR § 261.58(e)
- Camping in Described Area D outside of a designated site 36 CFR § 261.58(e)
EXEMPTIONS
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order or a written determination by a Forest Service authorized officer that a permit is not required under 36 C.F.R. § 251.50(e)(1) or (2).
- Any Federal, State, or local Officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.
DESCRIBED AREAS
Described Area A (Five-day Camping Stay Limit from May 1st to Labor Day):
All NFS lands within the Jackson Ranger District.
- Toppings, Spread Creek, Pacific Creek, and Colter Dump designated camping areas within Blackrock Ranger District.
Described Area B (Camping Prohibited from May 1st to Labor Day)
All NFS lands within ½ mile of the Game Creek Trail beginning at the trailhead and continuing 1.2 miles along the trail (Jackson Ranger District).
All NFS lands within ½ mile of the Snake River beginning at South Park and ending at Sheep Gulch (Jackson Ranger District) and beginning at Bailey Creek and ending at Sheep Gulch (Greys River Ranger District).
- All NFS lands within ½ mile of Hoback River beginning at its junction with the Snake River and ending at Granite Creek (Jackson Ranger District) and all NFS land within ½ mile of the Granite Creek/Hoback River confluence zone (Big Piney Ranger District).
Described Area C (Camping Prohibited); all within Jackson Ranger District
All NFS lands within Section 29, Township 41 North, Range 117 West, 6 P.M, between Highway 22 and Black Canyon Creek and west of Wilson, Wyoming, including Trail Creek Trailhead.
All NFS lands the north and west side of Snow King Mountain identified as NW¼ of Section 3, N½ of Sections 4 and 5, Township 40 North, Range 116 West, 6 P.M. and Sections 33 and 34, Township 41 North, Range 116 West, 6 P.M.
All NFS lands in Sections 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 24, Township 42 North, Range 117 West, 6 P.M., north, east, and west of Teton Village.
All NFS lands within ½ mile of Cache Road from the Forest boundary with Town of Jackson up to Game Creek Trail 4025 (including Nelson Drive Area).
All NFS lands within ¼ mile of Curtis Canyon Campground, including the Curtis Canyon Overlook Day Use Site.
All NFS lands within ¼ mile of Gros Ventre Road 30400 from Grizzly Lake Trailhead east to the private land boundary that is 1/3 mile east of Crystal Creek Campground.
All NFS lands within ¼ mile of the Gros Ventre Wedding Tree Day Use Site.
All NFS lands between NFS Road 30373 and the south side of the Lower Slide Lake outlet in Sections 4 and 5, Township 42 North, Range 114 West, 6 P.M.
- All NFS lands north of Granite Creek Campground along NFS Road 30500 within ¼ mile of the road; including Granite Falls and Granite Hot Springs Day Use Areas.
Described Area D (Camping Restricted to designated sites)
Shadow Mountain, Flat Creek, Curtis Canyon, Phillips Ridge, and Mosquito Creek designated camping areas within Jackson Ranger District.
- Toppings Lake, Spread Creek, Pacific Creek, and Colter Dump designated camping areas within Blackrock Ranger District.

Unless otherwise expressly defined in this Order, the terms used in this Order are defined by the regulations of the Secretary of Agriculture, 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299. If there are terms in this Order that are not expressly defined in the Order or 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299, their meaning shall be determined by their plain language definitions.
A violation of the above prohibitions is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.
