Rangeland and Grazing
The Ashley National Forest has established and managed livestock grazing since the turn of the 20th century. The Rangeland Management department, in coordination with other specialists, establishes forage utilization standards that are incorporated into each grazing permit. Local ranchers work with the rangeland specialists to adhere to these standards, maintain structural improvements, and develop water on the forest.
