Knoll Lake Temporary Closure
PROHIBITIONS
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a) and (b), the following is prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands, roads and trails in the Mogollon Rim Ranger District, Coconino National Forest, described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A:
- Public health or safety. 36 C.F.R. § 261.53(e).
- Being on a road. 36 C.F.R. § 261.54(e).
- Being on a trail. 36 C.F.R. § 261.55(a).
EXEMPTIONS
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order or a written determination by a Forest Service authorized officer that a permit is not required under 36 C.F.R. § 251.50(e)(1) or (2).
- Any Federal, State, or Local Officer, or member of an organized rescue, firefighting, or wildlife management resource in the performance of an official duty.
DESCRIBED AREA
As depicted on the map in Exhibit A, the Described Area includes all National Forest System lands within the area originating at the junction of Limestone Road (Forest Road #115) and Ohaco Campground Road (Forest Road #56) (34°26'30.0"N ; 111°4'30.9"W), thence southerly along the western flank of Limestone Road (Forest Road #115) to the junction with Gentry Ridge Road (Forest Road #91) (34°24'4.6"N ; 111°4'29.0"W), thence westerly to the intersection of the Babe Haught Trail (Trail #146) and the General Crook Trail (Trail #130) (34°24'13.3"N ; 111°5'46.4"W), thence westerly along the northern flank of the General Crook Trail (Trail #130) to the junction of General Crook Trail (Trail #130) and Rim Road (Forest Road #300) (34°23'30.5"N ; 111°7'13.7"W), thence westerly along the northern flank of Rim Road (Forest Road #300) to the junction of Forest Road #295E (34°23'30.7"N ; 111°7'34.0"W), thence northerly following and including Forest Road #295E to the junction of Forest Road #295 (34°25'45.4"N ; 111°6'7.6"W) thence northerly following and including Forest Road #295 to coordinates (34°26’30.0”N ; 111°5'38.2"W), thence due east to the boundary origination point at the junction of Limestone Road (Forest Road #115) and Ohaco Campground Road (Forest Road #56) (34°26'30.0"N ; 111°4'30.9"W). The Described Area includes the entirety of Forest Road 295E, the Knoll Lake Campground, the Babe Haught Trail (Trail #146) north of the General Crook Trail (Trail #130), 2.25 miles of Forest Road 752, north of the intersection with General Crook Trail (Trail #130), and the entirety of Forest Road #115K and Forest Road #9153.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Order is to protect public health and safety during application of a piscicide for the removal of invasive fish species.
IMPLEMENTATION
- This Order shall be in effect from September 08, 2025, at 8 a.m. through December 08, 2025, at 8 a.m., unless rescinded.
- A map identifying the Described Area is attached and made part of this Order as Exhibit A. For a digital version of this Order and Exhibit A, go to https://www.fs.usda.gov/r03/alerts.
- Unless otherwise expressly defined in this Order, the terms used in this Order are defined by the regulations of the Secretary of Agriculture, 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299. If there are terms in this Order that are not expressly defined in the Order or 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299, their meaning shall be determined by their plain language definitions.
- A violation of the above prohibitions is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C.
