Celebrating Wildflowers

Bright yellow and waxy short petals surround a dark orange center of this cactus flower. Cactus paddles, narrow and oblong, can be seen beneath the flower.

The Celebrating Wildflowers programming started in 1991 in response to the public’s desire for information about native plants and their conservation and is a way to promote and enjoy wildflowers on the 193 million acres of national forests and grasslands. The Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest partners with the Montana Native Plant Society to sponsor a 4th grade art contest and interpretive hike on Mt. Helena using the guide hyperlinked here.
