On April 25, we celebrate “Take Our Children to Work Day.” This year’s theme is “Inspire 2 Aspire.” It encourages us to instill a mindset in our children that empowers them to choose their own futures. It also highlights the collaborative development of youth, preparing them to navigate the evolving world of work. Offices are encouraged to host events at their locations.

Take Our Children to Work Day exists to teach youth about careers, specifically the professions of their parents. This event provides children with the opportunity to see the limitless career opportunities they have waiting for them in the future. It’s also a way for youth to learn about the important work their parents perform to improve Americans’ health and quality of life, foster an equitable and competitive agricultural marketplace, and contribute to healthier land and cleaner water.

April is also designated as the Month of the Military Child, underscoring the important role military children play in the armed forces community. Sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy, the Month of the Military Child is a time to applaud military families and their children for the daily sacrifices and the challenges they overcome. Wearing purple is a visible way for everyone to show support and thank military youth for their strength and sacrifices. Purple up! throughout the month and especially at events for "Take Our Children to Work."
