WASHINGTON, D.C.—Go take a hike isn't a dismissal, it’s an invitation. National Trails Day is June 1, so now's the time to plan to get volunteers out on our trails.

Join Forest Service trail leaders and American Hiking Society staff to learn more about hosting an event, spreading the word and all the resources available to make celebrating National Trails Day easy and successful.

Hosting a National Trails Day event is a great way to reach new volunteers and increase trail volunteerism. In 2019, the event motivated over 41,000 volunteers to participate in nonmotorized trail maintenance activities around the country. Registering an event on the official National Trails Day event site is a great opportunity to connect to new and existing trail users in your community who are looking for outdoor events.
