HRM: Paycheck8 update – Overtime and compensatory time

April 10, 2020

HRM Header

When an employee claims overtime or compensatory (comp) time off in-lieu of overtime, both the employee and supervisor must certify that an overtime authorization has been completed and is on file showing that the overtime hours claimed have been properly authorized.

What you need to do

When submitting a timesheet that you have coded overtime or comp time off in-lieu of overtime, a certification statement will display in Paycheck8 when you review your timesheet as follows:

“This timesheet has overtime and/or compensatory time off in-lieu of overtime coded. Overtime or compensatory time off must be approved in advance by the appropriate authority in Forest Service Manual 6100 or by the Incident Official while on emergency assignments. A completed, signed form FS-6100-30 or OF-288 authorizing the overtime or compensatory time off must be on file at the local unit and maintained for 6 years.”

You must agree to the statement before submitting your timesheet. If you have questions, please contact your supervisor.

As a reminder, employees are required to follow FSH 6109.11, chapter 10, which requires overtime and comp time off in-lieu of overtime to be documented in writing on Form FS-6l00-30, Overtime Request and Authorization, and approved by the appropriate delegated official as shown under FSM 6100
