No Permit Required

Permits are not required in certain situations:

  • Products may be consumed or used while on the forest without a permit. For example mushrooms may be eaten in the woods or down wood may be gathered for a campfire (on the forest) without a permit.
  • Except where otherwise noted, it is not legal to remove products collected from the forest without a permit.
  • Edible berries, including huckleberries, require either a free use or commercial permit! Read here for more information.
  • Members of local federally recognized tribes do not require a permit for traditional gathering activities on "usual and accustomed" grounds.
  • You must leave your recreation site and any campsites in a clean and sanitary condition. Please follow the principles of Leave No Trace.
