Preparation and safety are of utmost importance while recreating in the national forest. Please observe safety alerts and notices before your excursion to the forest. Simply knowing the current conditions, closures and alerts prepares you for a pleasurable outdoor visit, free from any surprise that could deter your fun!

Current Alerts and Notices
Title 36 of the Code of Federal Regulations 261.50 (a) gives each Forest Supervisor the authority to issue orders which close or restrict use of the of described areas within the area over which he/she has jurisdiction. An order may close an area to entry or may restrict the use of an area by applying any or all of the prohibitions authorized in Title 36, Part 261, Subpart B, of the Code of Federal Regulations. General Public Information:
Ferron/Price Ranger District:

Lake Fork Camping and Road Closure: To protect public safety in areas impacted by the Coal Hollow and Pole Creek Fires and monsoonal flooding including soil instability and roadway damage, the area is now day use only for persons and high clearance vehicles (without attached trailers).
Sanpete Ranger District:
- New Canyon Closure: This area closed for prescribed fire application to protect public safety
Moab/Monticello Ranger District:
- La Sal Mountain Loop Road Construction: This project will start March 1, 2024, and last through Fall of 2025 and includes closures and delays.
- Pack Creek Picnic Area Closure: To prevent potential injury to the public due to unstable soils and damaged trees/vegetation by restricting access to heavily affected areas of the Pack Creek Fire.
- Porcupine Rim Trail Closure: To protect public health and safety during contruction of the Porcupine Rim Camping Area.

First be sure you and your family are in a safe place. Please call 435-637-2817 during the week to report a situation or call 9-1-1 on the weekend.
If you have an emergency on the National Forest, the best thing to do is call 9-1-1 and they will dispatch the nearest help. Cell service is not always available. You may need to travel to a higher point to get service.
Please call the Moab Fire Dispatch Center, 435-259-1850. They will dispatch the appropriate personnel.
