SOPA Reports

The Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) contains a list of proposed actions for Klamath National Forest & Butte Valley National Grassland that will soon begin or are currently undergoing environmental analysis and documentation. It provides information so that you can become aware of and indicate your interest in specific proposals. We encourage your early and ongoing involvement in any proposals of interest to you.

Issuance of a new special use permit to install a new above-ground water line. No new disturbance is proposed with this project. Water Board Waiver N/A.

To inform the responsible official of the environmental consequences of re-authorizing livestock grazing. Water Board 2010 Waiver Category B.

Road access of 1,500 feet long and 12 feet wide to private property and a water system consisting of 1,000 feet of 2 inch line. Water Board Waiver N/A.

Project involves the creation of 500' of barrier in order to protect the site from the negative impacts of vehicle trespass.

To reduce largely dense and overgrown hazardous fuels, improve the health of current plantations, and reduce fuels along roads and private property. Waterboard Waiver Category B.

Response to proposed Plan of Operations to mine the China Point claim, in compliance with General Mining Act of 1872. China Point is a 30-acre unpatented mining claim. Water Board Waiver n/a; permits requested by mining claimants.

Plan of Operations proposed to mine the Discovery Day claim. The Discovery Day Mine is an established mine site that consists of a road, three working pads, and underground tunnels. Water Board Waiver n/a.

Remove hazardous fuels from within and around all developed recreation sites on the Goosenest Ranger District.

Operation and maintenance of a buried fiber optic system. This permit authorizes the installation of microduct and fiber owned by the holder (CDT) into existing conduit owned by Siskiyou Telephone, permitted under authorized ID OAK57. Waiver n/a.

Install, operate, maintain buried fiber optic cable and pull and splice vaults within CA Dept. of Transportation's right-of-way along Highway 97. The project aims to provide connection of existing and future statewide fiber optic systems.

Project proposes to restore the trails within the Humbug OHV area: removing hazard trees and vegetation along the trails, restoring the trail tread, and restoring existing drainage features. Includes ongoing routine trail maintenance. Waiver B.

Build a temporary road approx. 70 feet in length & 12 feet in width to place a 1500-gallon water tank on Forest Service (FS) lands. The water system will consist of a 1500-gallon water tank and 100 feet of 1 inch pipe on FS Lands. Waiver A.

Mining plan of operations proposed to mine the McAdams Creek Mines. Materials would be milled on site at a camp landing pad, materials would be disposed of on site. Plan of operations is for a ten year operation. Water Board Waiver n/a.

The Northwest Forest Plan Amendment provides an updated management framework that incorporates best available scientific information, considers public input, recommendations from the Federal Advisory Committee, tribes, and government partners.

Authorize cattle grazing within East Beaver, Ash Creek, and Hornbrook Allotments and implement an adaptive management strategy. Water Board Waiver Category B expected.

Install underground power line through 3-inch diameter conduit in Scott River Road for 1.1 miles for Pacific Power to provide services to a private customer. Water Board Waiver Cat. A

Proposed to protect the Petersburg Administrative Site infrastructure from the occurrence of wildfires and restore fire's role in the ecosystem. The proposed action is to reduce fuels through prescribed fire and hand thinning. Water Waiver Cat. A.

Reduce fuel loads and improve forest health: 9,310 acre project area; 6,209 acres treatment. Water Board Waiver Category B.

Analyze the reauthorization of Recreation Outfitter and Guide Special Use Permits. Water Board Waiver N/A.

This project was created to respond to conditions created by the 2021 River Complex Fires and to reflect the changes in post fire conditions. This project includes site preparation, prescribed burning, reforestation, and sediment reduction activities

Install ground water monitoring wells used to identify the change in the water table and water quality throughout the year as part of a multiyear feasibility study. Waterboard Waiver A.

Vegetation management and fuels reduction project treating stands and roads within the wildland urban interface (WUI) for public safety, and resource protection concerns. Waterboard Waiver Category B.

Amend Special Use Permit to plow down 1100 feet to install an underground phone line to a private residence. Water Board Waiver exempt.

The purpose of this project is to enhance off-channel and tributary fish and riparian habitat in the Windler Bar project area creating habitat features necessary for coho, spring-run Chinook, and other salmonid recovery in the Salmon River.

To collected shallow geologic data which would inform the project design for future riparian habitat restoration adjacent to Gallia Pond on the North Fork Salmon River.

Precommercial thinning, release and fuels reduction in plantations and in natural stands on about 2,600 acres along Yellow Jacket Ridge. Water Board Waiver Category B.
