Research Interests
I am interested in the effects of fire and other disturbances on plant communities of the Intermountain West, and the effectiveness of post-fire seeding for establishing perennial plants and reducing proliferation of annual weeds. I am currently involved in a collaborative study of seeding techniques, Equipment and strategies to enhance post-wildfire establishment and persistence of Great Basin native plants.

I am also interested in modeling distributions of communities, species and ecotypes in relation to climate and other environmental factors. I am involved in the development and application of novel clustering methods for community analysis; using plant species occurrence data to understand geographic ranges as a participant of the NCEAS working group Botanical Ecology and Information Network; and assisting in seed zone research for the Great Basin native species, bluebunch wheatgrass (Pseudoroegneria spicata).
