Travel Management & Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Program
**NEW June 1, 2026** The U.S. Department of Agriculture and Forest Service are reviewing the Executive Order, entitled "Removing Unnecessary and Counterproductive Restrictions on Access to Federal Lands" issued May 29, 2026, that may affect travel management on National Forest System lands. Any changes to public access, road management or recreational opportunities will be communicated through official Forest Service channels. At this time, there are no changes to existing road, trail or off-highway vehicle (OHV) designations.
Over the past few decades, the availability and capability of off highway vehicles (OHV) has increased tremendously. That’s a good thing. More Americans are enjoying access and recreational opportunities on their national forests and grasslands, in keeping with the Forest Service’s multiple use mandate. However, the increase in OHV use also affects soil, water, wildlife habitat, and other recreational visitors. Here you will find information related to the Forest Service Off-Highway Vehicle Program to help you enjoy and safely recreate on our national forests.
