Sheltowee Trace Trail #100 Section 1

Area Status: Open

Section 1 (North Terminus Trailhead to Dry Branch Road) is the northern-most section of the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail, located on Cumberland District. After a short climb, Section 1 follows a relatively level, dry forested ridge-top that parallels the Daniel Boone National Forest boundary for about 7.5 miles.

The trail winds through mostly undisturbed forest without crossing roads. Several woodland ponds along the trail provide excellent opportunities for viewing wildlife and aquatic species. The trail does not leave the forested ridge until descending into Dry Branch.
