Trail Description: From the Saint Vrain Mountain Trailhead, the Saint Vrain Mountain Trail starts off on an old road and enters the Indian Peaks Wilderness. The trail cuts across the slope and follows along a creek and follows some switchbacks before it ascends above tree line, passing to the south of Meadow Mountain. It pops briefly into Rocky Mountain National Park. This section of trail is not open to pets. The trail circles the west side of a small peak, gaining the east ridge of Saint Vrain Mountain (no developed trail ascends the peak). At 3.9 miles, it intersects the unsigned Rock Creek Trail near the Saint Vrain Mountain Trail's highest point. This junction is marked by a cairn, and is south of the head of the Rock Creek drainage. Saint Vrain Mountain Trail continues down the south side of Saint Vrain Mountain to intersect Buchanan Pass Trail.
