Helm Bay Cabin

This is a 16' x 20' three-room Pan-Abode log cabin that was constructed in 1978. This cabin is located in the old-growth Sitka spruce and western hemlock rainforest and is adjacent to a large saltwater tide flat. The area is especially noted for crab, salmon, halibut, and red snapper. FACILITIES: • Two Single & Two Double Bunks • Wood Stove and Firewood • Cooking Counter and Table • Shelves and Cupboard Space • Ax/Maul/Splitting Wedges • Broom.

Bring your own firewood as it cannot be guaranteed.

Directions

The cabin is located behind Forss Island on the west shore of Helm Bay, about 24 miles from Ketchikan. It is accessible by floatplane or by boat. There is a state-maintained floating dock off shore near the cabin. Refer To: USGS Ketchikan C6
