Greentop Cabin

A rustic 2 story log cabin built in the 1940's on the outer coast of Yakobi Island protected from the Pacific Ocean by Greentop Harbor. Saltwater access only. Rugged rocky coastline with abundant seashore life and beautiful scenery of West Chichagof Yakobi Wilderness. Wildlife in this area include deer, brown bear and sea otter. Excellent opportunities for sea kayaking and boating in the numerous coves and protected bays. The cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, tables, benches, wood stove and an outhouse. Firewood is provided. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food.

Firewood is generally available, but is not guaranteed.

Directions

Located on the southwest tip of Yakobi Island, across Lisianski Strait from Chichagof Island. Cabin is in the northeast corner of Greentop Harbor. Access by float plane one hour flight time (one way) from Sitka or Juneau, 35 minute flight time from Hoonah. Access by boat one hour from Pelican. 41 miles (66 km) west of Hoonah and 67 miles (108 km) northwest of Sitka on southwest tip of Yakobi Island within West Chichagof-Yakobi Wilderness Area.
