YAKUTAT, Alaska - The Yakutat District Ranger, in cooperation with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G), has established the 2025 moose harvest quota for Unit 5A at 30 bulls west of the Dangerous River and 30 bulls east of the Dangerous River. Hunters may not harvest from the Nunatak Bench. The Federal Subsistence moose season is Oct. 8 to Nov. 15 west of the Dangerous River, and Sept. 16 to Nov. 15 east of the Dangerous River, or until the quota is met.

Participating hunters require a joint State/Federal permit. The harvest of a bull moose west of the Dangerous River must be reported within 24 hours and the harvest of a bull moose east of the Dangerous River must be reported within three days. Prompt harvest reporting helps ensure that the quota is not exceeded and the moose population continues to increase.
