Rainbow Lake Recreation Area
Rainbow Lake Recreation Area is one of the most scenic spots on the forest. This 9.5 acre, deep lake in a former quarry just north of State Route 70 west of Derby, Indiana opened in 2013 as part of an effort to expand recreational opportunities. The lakes are open to the public for fishing, paddling, boating (elec. motor only) and swimming. The lake is stocked with bluegill, redear sunfish, largemouth bass, longear sunfish, warmouth and several hybrid sunfish. A state fishing license is required to fish the ponds in the area and Indiana State fishing rules and regulations must be followed.
