Spearhead Point Recreation Area
If you are looking for a campground with a family friendly atmosphere, try the Spearhead Point Campground northwest from Medford on the Mondeaux Flowage.
The Spearhead Point Campground within the Mondeaux Dam Recreation Area on the Medford-Park Falls Ranger District is a popular campground with 27 campsites equipped with a parking spur, campfire rings with grill, picnic table, vault toilets and drinking water. There is boat access and many sites have small docks provided. Sites may be reserved through recreation.gov. There are accessible vault toilets and a fishing pier at the nearby Lakeview Day Use Site. A reservable picnic shelter is also available in the campground for registered campers for an additional fee. If not reserved, it is available on a first-come, first serve basis to registered campers.
A boat landing and parking area for registered campers only accesses the 416 acre Mondeaux Flowage. There is no long term or day use parking for visitors entering the Ice Age National Scenic Trail within the campground. A dumpster is provided within the campground for registered campers.

General Information
Campground Camping
The Spearhead Point Recreation Area is a rustic facility on the beautiful 411-acre Mondeaux Flowage. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring. Garbage and recycling dumpsters are available in the campground for campers only. Site numbers that begin with a P are deemed premium and have a small dock at the site. Site numbers that begin with an S are deemed premium and lack this amenity. Most sites are spacious, and some are over 40' long.

RV Camping
Campsites are complete with picnic tables and fire rings with grills.
The open season typically starts the Thursday before the May fishing opener, which is the first Saturday in May.
Open 24 hours/day.
Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 6 am. The use of generators is not allowed during quiet hours.

Campsite Capacity
- Maximum of 8 people and 4 vehicles at each camp site.
- Vehicle capacity limit includes vehicles, wheeled camping units and trailers.
Firewood Closure Order
- Our firewood closure order prohibits the possession, storage, or transport of any firewood that originates from more than 25 miles from your campsite. Firewood certified by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Transportation and Consumer Protection can originate from more than 25 miles from National Forest destination.
- Pallet boards are not approved.
Operation of all ATVs & UTVs are prohibited in campground.

Pets must be crated, caged, or on a leash less than 6’ in length while in developed recreation areas.

Directions
Travel north from Medford on State Highway 13 for 4 miles, then turn left (west) on County trunk Highway M for 7 miles. Turn right (north) on County Trunk Highway E for 8.5 miles, then turn right (east) on Forest Road 106 and look for the entrance sign at the top of the hill.

Recreation Opportunities
Boating - Motorized Info
This is a motorized flowage mainly used for fishing. As a shallow flowage with occasional stumps, it is not conducive to water sports such as tubing and skiing. A boat landing is located in the campground for campers at Spearhead Point only.
Boating - Non-Motorized Info
The Mondeaux Flowage is great for canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding around the curvy lakeshore. A boat landing is located in the campground for campers at Spearhead Point only.
Swimming Info
A swimming beach is located near the lodge, one mile from Forest Road 106. This beach is for campers and non-campers.
Day Hikes Info
There are a couple of options for hiking at Spearhead Point. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail runs next to the campground. Another option is the Aldo Leopold Nature Trail which is one mile from the campground on Forest Road 106.
Fishing - Lake & Pond Info
The Mondeaux Flowage has good fishing opportunities. A boat landing is located in the campground for campers at Spearhead Point only. The docks on the premium sites make shore fishing convenient for those with lake sites. Some lakes have special fishing regulations and be sure to check regulations for the area you are fishing.
Fish Species: Crappie, bluegill, northern pike, musky, and walleye.
