Current Conditions

Entrance to the El Yunque National Forest recreational corridor on PR 191 North in Río Grande is free and no reservations are required. Operating hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitor capacity is being managed due to parking limitations and to ensure the public's safety during ongoing construction work throughout the forest. Parking is permitted only in designated areas.

La Coca gate and El Portal Rainforest Center are not authorized drop-off or pick-up points for rideshare mobile transportation services. Visitors are often forced to walk hours when leaving the forest because these apps do not mark a valid pick-up point. Instead of these apps, we recommend visitors to use authorized transportation, which includes private and rental vehicles, as well as taxis and tour and transportation service providers with permits to operate in El Yunque.
