Tara Umphries, Forest Supervisor
Tara Umphries accepted the position of forest supervisor for the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest in October 2024. She got her start as a wildland firefighter in 2002 and then moved into wildfire leadership roles including Fuels Program Manager for the Willamette National Forest and Fire Planner for Pacific Northwest Region 6. She also served as District Ranger on the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. She has over 20 years’ experience in forest management. Prior to coming to the Okanogan-Wenatchee NF, she worked as a special assistant to the regional forester in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Umphries was born and raised in Washington State. In her personal time, she enjoys skiing, fly fishing, and just about any outdoor activity, especially when it can include her two labradors.
Chris Furr, Methow Valley District Ranger
Chris Furr has been the Methow Valley District Ranger since 2018. Chris began his career with the Forest Service in 1998. Early in his career he served as a forester with the Southern Research Station collecting Forest Inventory and Analysis data all over the southeastern US and Puerto Rico. He also served as a district staff officer in the Southern Region, including on the Sam Houston National Forest near Houston, Texas. His position before becoming the Methow Valley District Ranger was the Natural Resources Staff Officer for the Carson National Forest in New Mexico, where he also served as a District Ranger for a time. Chris grew up in southern Mississippi where his family raised cattle and worked in the logging industry. Chris graduated from Mississippi State University with a BS in Forest Management.
Tim Delph is serving as Acting District Ranger through September 2026.
Holly Krake, Entiat and Chelan District Ranger
Holly Krake is the district ranger for the Entiat-Chelan Ranger District. She brings more than 16 years of Forest Service experience in natural resources, strategic planning, community engagement, and wildfire management to her position. Holly has worked on national forests across the southern Appalachians, desert Southwest, Rocky Mountains, Alaska, and the Pacific Northwest. A familiar face on the Okanogan-Wenatchee, she has lived and worked in central Washington for more than a decade. Holly has worked as the Entiat-Chelan District Ranger since 2025.
Erica Taecker, Wenatchee River District Ranger
Erica Taecker joined the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest in 2022 as the District Ranger on the Wenatchee River Ranger District. Erica returned to Forest Service from her prior position as Assistant Field Manager for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Wenatchee Field Office. Taecker began her career in the BLM’s Baker Field Office in Oregon as a forester trainee. After completing her master’s degree in forestry and environmental management at Duke University, she was hired as an intern in the fire program for the National Forests in North Carolina, where she did a variety of developmental assignments including a season with the Asheville Hotshots, leading to a permanent position as a Fire Ecologist for the Forest Service Southern Region. In 2012, she worked at the Gifford Pinchot National Forest as a supervisory Planning Team Leader. In 2016 she was a supervisor of the Earth Sciences and Fish Biology groups for the Forest Service Enterprise Program until she moved to Wenatchee to work for the BLM.
Scott Robinson, Cle Elum District Ranger
In 2024, Scott Robinson moved into the District Ranger position from his previous role as a forester on the Cle Elum Ranger District. Scott came to the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in California where he was the west zone timber management officer. Before re-joining the Forest Service, Scott was a Ph.D. Candidate in Ecosystem Ecology at the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation at the University of Montana. He received a B.Sc. in Forestry and a M.Sc. in Forest Ecology and Management from Michigan Technological University. Scott gained a wide breadth of early natural resources experience through a variety of positions ranging from a forest improvement forester with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, to recreation posts in the Boundary Waters Canoe and Sylvania Wilderness Areas, to soils and silviculture roles on the Custer-Gallatin National Forest.
Aaron Stockton, Naches District Ranger
Aaron Stockton is the Naches District Ranger for the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. He was born and raised in southern New Mexico. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management. He has more than 20 years of experience in public land and National Forest management, having worked for the Lincoln National Forest, the Boise National Forest, and the Bureau of Land Management prior to becoming the Naches District Ranger in 2020. He has a strong background in environmental planning and National Environmental Policy Act, public outreach, partnership engagement, recreation, and restoration.
