Upper Clackamas River Campground Redesign
The Mt. Hood National Forest has been partnering with RANGE, a Portland-based landscape architecture firm, and the National Forest Foundation to redesign seven campgrounds along the Upper Clackamas River: Indian Henry, Fish Creek, Lazy Bend, Carter Bridge, Lockaby, Roaring River and Sunstrip.
The designs identify opportunities to reconfigure and modernize recreation sites to meet growing demand while also providing high-quality and sustainable recreation opportunities into the future. The site’s changed conditions are fully considered in the proposed designs and ensure protection of the scenic, natural, and cultural resources. Additionally, development will retain the natural and rustic character our visitors expect on Forest Service lands while also providing a welcoming and safe environment for a wide spectrum of users and families.
