Yes, the Colville National Forest offers free personal use firewood authorizations using a self-service procedure. Permits can be obtained at any Colville National Forest office. The authorization allows removal of up to 12 cords of firewood per household. View more information about forest product permits.

We recommend you check with your State Forester for more information/grants, etc.
Also, each state has a Forest Service Nursery that supplies "source-identified, locally-adapted" seedlings to private landowners. You can locate the nursery for your state on our National Nursery Directory.
There are multiple sites and cabins that require or offer reservations in advance. Reservations can be made online at recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. View a list of reservable sites or cabins at Colville National Forest.
The USDA Forest Service does not provide this service, but many State Foresters do. Contact your State Forester to see if they provide this service. You can find your State Forester online.
Forest Service contractors perform a wide range of services including housekeeping, fire and aviation support, construction, transportation, equipment leasing, special studies and analyses, information technology and professional, management and administrative support. However, the Forest Service, as with other federal agencies, are under strict guidance of how we can or cannot work with you.
How to Contract with the Forest Service
The Forest Service works with many businesses in the pursuit of attaining our mission. As a business owner, it is your responsibility to market and sell your company's products or services to the agency. The following information may assist you in your marketing efforts.
There are three kinds of contracts:
- Construction: Involves the construction, alteration or repair (including excavating and painting) of buildings, structures or other real property.
- Service: Directly engages the time and effort of a contractor whose primary purpose is to perform an identifiable task.
- Supply: Furnishing of a commodity, product or equipment. This also includes the manufacture, fabrication or processing of raw material into a finished product, and may also include procurement of raw materials.
Connect and get help: Help yourself understand federal government contracting by visiting the Federal Service Desk and U.S. Small Business Administration.
Tips: If you sell a product or service, the best thing to do is get in the Federal Supply Service Program through the General Services Administration (GSA). The GSA is the business manager and purchasing agent for the federal government.
To bid on contracts throughout the federal, start at SAM.gov. Or, find solicitations specific to the Forest Service.
Plant-A-Tree Certificate Sample
The Forest Service asks that you consider honoring the person or event in ways that do not impact the landscape or other visitors’ experiences. The Plant-A-Tree program is one such program which enables individuals, groups and businesses to have trees planted on National Forests to memorialize loved ones, commemorate births, weddings, anniversaries, or other events.
Please be aware that burial nor scattering of ashes are prohibited on the National Forest System lands.
Memorials or other commemorative items left on public land may be a violation of 36 CFR 261.10.
