Firefighters continue to make progress on the Root Fire. Yesterday saw no perimeter growth and containment increased to 45 percent. Resources on the fire are working both day and night shifts but still face challenges engaging the fire in steep terrain. Additional hoses and water tenders have arrived, and crews were able to get water around the entire perimeter of the fire. Air resources were able to increase retardant lines around the northern perimeter of the fire. Dozers have widened primary containment lines between the 38N40 and 39N44 Roads. Firefighters also secured the slop-overs which were discovered yesterday and completed constructing handlines along the south and southeastern perimeter.
