PEAK FIRE CLOSURE ORDER
FOREST ORDER NO. 14-25-22
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. This Order is effective from August 30, 2025, through January 31, 2026.
- Going into or being upon any National Forest System land within the Peak Fire closure area, as described in Exhibit A and shown on Exhibit C. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(e).
- Being on National Forest System roads within the Peak Fire closure area as listed in Exhibit B and shown on Exhibit C. 36 C.F.R. § 261.54(e).
- Being on any National Forest System trail within the Peak Fire closure area, as listed in Exhibit B and shown on Exhibit C. 36 C.F.R. § 261.55(a).
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.
- Owners or lessees of land, to the extent necessary to access their land.
- Residents, to the extent necessary to access their land.
- Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire- fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart A.
A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.

Peak Fire Closure Area
- The boundary of the Peak Fire closure area begins at the intersection of Forest Trail No. 09W11 and the northwest corner of Section 17, Township 36 N, Range 9 W, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian (MDBM),
- then continues east along the north edge of Section 17 to its intersection with the southwest corner of Section 11, Township 36 N, Range 9W, MDBM,
- then continues north along the west edge of Section 11 to the intersection of Forest Trail No. 08W15, Section 2, Township 36 N, Range 8 W, MDBM,
- then continues east along Forest Trail No. 08W15 to its intersection with the Trinity Alps Wilderness boundary, Section 20, Township 36 N, Range 8 W, MDBM,
- then continues south along the Trinity Alps Wilderness boundary to its intersection with the Shasta-Trinity National Forest boundary, Section 29, Township 36 N, Range 8 W, MDBM,
- then continues south along the Shasta-Trinity National Forest boundary to its intersection with State Highway 3, Section 17, Township 35 N, Range 8 W, MDBM,
- then continues south along State Highway 3 to its intersection with the west edge of Section 36, Township 35 N, Range 9 W, MDBM,
- then continues north along the west edge of Section 36 to its intersection with the southeast corner of Section 26, Township 35 N, Range 9 W, MDBM,
- then continues west along the south edge of Section 26, to its intersection with the southwest corner of Section 26, Township 35 N, Range 9 W, MDBM,
- then continues north along the west edge of Section 26 to its intersection with the southeast corner of Section 22, Township 35 N, Range 9 W, MDBM,
- then continues east along the south edge of Section 22 to its intersection with the Shasta- Trinity National Forest boundary, Section 28, Township 35 N, Range 9 W, MDBM,
- then continues south along the Shasta-Trinity National Forest boundary to County Road No. 112, Section 28, Township 35 N, Range 9 W, MDBM,
- then continues west along County Road No. 115 to its intersection with Forest Trail No. 09W20, Section 20, Township 35 N, Range 9 W, MDBM,
- then continues north along Forest Trail No. 09W20 to its intersection with the south edge of Section 18, Township 36 N, Range 9 W, MDBM,
- then continues east along the north edge of Section 19 to its intersection with the southwest corner of Section 17, Township 36 N, Range 9 W, MDBM,
- then continues north along the west edge of Section 17 back to the starting point, as shown in Exhibit C.
