The Mount Hough Ranger District is at the heart of Plumas County, with a wide range of recreation opportunities.
The Mt. Hough Ranger District is one of three ranger districts of the Plumas National Forest. Our office is located in Quincy, California, Plumas County and extends to the north bordering the Lassen National Forest. We are proud to be part of a dynamic community that shares its wealth of resources with our visitors.
The Mt. Hough Ranger District is a place where visitors can find activities and experiences they require. Besides the great expanse of forest, visitors also enjoy varied recreation areas; mountain top forest lookouts; both developed fee and no-fee campgrounds; a versatile forest road system; privately owned lodges operated under permit; and various boat launches. From solitude to adventure, available activities include lodges, camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, equestrian, nature watching, water sports, cultural resources, exploring, wildflowers, fall color, motor touring and relaxing.
In addition to recreation activities, Mt. Hough Ranger District provides other benefits to the community. Fuelwood, Christmas Trees and other timber related resource are available by permit.
