Gibbs Lake Trail
This small lake is tucked in the canyon between Mount Dana and Mount Gibbs. Climbing up pine covered slopes and along Gibbs Creek, the trail to Gibbs Lake is 2.7 miles long. The trailhead at Upper Horse Meadows is located at the end of 3 miles of dirt road. This trail is not recommended for stock beyond the wilderness boundary. This trail does not enter Yosemite.

General Information
- Wilderness permit required for overnight trips.
- Day use does not require a permit.
- May 1 through November 1 quota limits visitors to 8 people per day.
Water from creeks, lakes and springs should be treated before drinking.
- No campfires at all locations above 10,000 ft.
- Food, trash and scented items must be stored in bear proof containers or counter balanced.
- Groups cannot be larger than 15 people (includes day use).
- Sierra Nevada bighorn sheep habitat, do not disturb this recovering species.
- This trail is not recommended for stock.

Directions
Leave Hwy 395 approximately 2 miles south of Lee Vining. Go west on a 4x4 dirt road (1N16) to Upper Horse Meadow.
