7.3 miles - 12 km (Crater Flat to Trail G, Mammoth to June Lake)

Access  to this area is at the Caltrans cinder-shed trailhead located on the north side of Hwy 203, 1.5 miles west of the Mammoth Scenic Loop Road/Hwy 203 junctionThe proceeds west to Crater Flat, a wide-open pumice flat with spectacular views of the San Joaquin Ridge.  The trail takes you around the backside of the Inyo Craters.

This is a popular play area for snowmobilers.
