Recreation Region: Mokelumne River Canyon Area

Blue Hole Trail

The trail starts off with a short climb up a steep rock on the north end of Salt Springs Reservoir Dam, then follows the north side of the reservoir with gentle ups and downs. Wildflowers are abundant in spring. In mid-summer, the trail can be hot as it is on a south-facing aspect. Watch for poison oak and rattlesnakes. Campsites are found 2.5 miles and 5 miles from the trailhead.

Current Conditions
**This trail is closed until further notice due to an undermined bridge. Erosion at the base of the bridge makes it unsafe for public use.**
